Frequently Asked
Questions
Why use O.C.V. or any rep vs. going direct?
The added advantage without added cost is you have an additional layer
of customer support working for you. We are paid on a commission basis
by the companies we represent and that cost is transparent to you and no
different than if you called directly. At the end of the day, it is
teamwork that makes the difference and we are a vital part of the team
effort to assure that deliveries are on time and any specific customer
requirements met. Our part in the repair process is not completed until
we have made the "customer satisfaction" call or sent an e-mail after
the install and 100% certain you are a satisfied customer.
What is the warranty period and what does it cover?
Warranty is 12 months for all rebuilt rotary vane, piston, diffusion,
diaphragm, scroll pumps or boosters. Stokes piston pumps are warranted
for
18 months. This warranty is a guarantee that your products will be free
from defects in materials and workmanship during the warranty period. At
our discretion and on a case by case basis we can extend the warranty to
include storage or stockroom time.
What is not covered?
Anything not rebuilt by us, such as the motor or controls. Our
experience is that motors outlast pumps many times and periodically
require bearing replacement, which is a relatively low cost and quoted
as a line item.
Also not covered are pumps found to have failed from abuse or being
placed into service they are not designed for or if not properly
maintained. As needed fluid changes come to mind. Please see the page on
Vacuum Pump Maintenance for our recommendations.
How long does it take to rebuild a pump?
Ans. Average is 2-3 weeks for most rebuilds. Some vacuum pump components
are sole sourced and we are at the mercy of the O.E.M. as a parts
supplier.
Rush service is available, which may or may not have additional cost,
depending on the circumstances. In the case of overnight shipping of
extraordinary parts not stocked, there would be extra cost to the
customer.
What is the cost to rebuild my pump?
Orange County Vacuum will provide the "standard or basic" rebuild price
that includes, complete teardown, cleaning, inspection and replacement
of all parts normally found in a rebuild kit. After your pump or booster
is evaluated in the shop, if additional parts are needed, you are
provided a quote with line item details as well as final cost for your
approval. You are not obligated to go forward with the rebuild and there
is no charge for evaluation when the cost exceeds the economical point
for a cost effective rebuild. In that case, we scrap the pump on site or
return it to the customer (disassembled) and provide a quote on a new or
rebuilt equivalent product for your consideration.
